Chapter 5: The Hairy Zombie
The intense pain rendered the Mao Jiang immobile. However, it was capable of drawing the yin energy of the heavens and the earth from a corpse to form a Mao Jiang, and the power accumulated over these several hundred years was not to be underestimated. As the Mao Jiang turned, its right palm swept across, striking heavily against Gu Zheng's ancient sword, sending Gu Zheng flying with a surge of immense force. The hand gripping the ancient sword was also marked by the sharp claws of the Mao Jiang, leaving a trail of black blood.
"Do not let him struggle free!" Sun Yan quickly took out a large number of bottles and jars from his backpack and shouted loudly to the people nearby. His hands and feet were swift; in an instant, he grabbed a bottle of liquid with unknown ingredients, pried open Chen Fu's mouth, and poured the liquid into Chen Fu's mouth.
Although Gu Zheng knew that his master often tricked him, he was certain that his master would never joke with his life in such matters. With a flick of his hand, a jujube pit, sharpened to a razor's edge at both ends, pierced through the back of Mao Jiang, nailing him to the spine.
Péng... ... '' Gǔ Zhēng suddenly fell onto a bush about seven or eight meters away. Although the hairy zombie was not tall, it was aware that this cunning fellow had injured it from behind with a book. Therefore, it did not let the matter rest and moved towards Gǔ Zhēng with stiff yet incredibly swift steps, rushing towards him.
With a roar, the hairy corpse trembled all over, and a wave of black energy erupted from its body. The expressions of the several team members following Gu Zheng changed dramatically, and they quickly stepped back, firing their shotguns at the hairy corpse. However, the bullets merely grazed the hairy corpse as if scratching through a boot, causing no harm whatsoever. Yet, such actions were enough to thoroughly enrage the hairy corpse. In a flash, it appeared before the team members. The sharp claws on its two withered arms, like the scythe of death, reached out towards the crowd. Although these team members were skilled, in the presence of the hairy corpse, their speed was as slow as a turtle in front of a rabbit, rendering any comparison meaningless.
Several team members thought to themselves, "My life is over," but then they saw the zombie's body stiffen, letting out two heart-wrenching roars. "Run!" Gu Zheng's voice came from behind the zombie, and everyone knew that it was Gu Zheng who had saved them. In the blink of an eye, Gu Zheng struck two more jujube pits into the zombie's back.
The ancient books and notes left behind by the master all mention methods for dealing with zombies. Zombies that can transform into "hairy zombies" are already rare in the world. Hairy zombies are not afraid of water or fire, nor do they fear talismans such as glutinous rice, ink, and vermilion that are effective against ordinary zombies. Their bodies are as hard as iron, making them impervious to blades and bullets. The only weakness of a hairy zombie is its spinal column on the back. The most effective method for dealing with a hairy zombie is to drive seven jujube pits into its spinal column. By doing so, one can exhaust the corpse energy within the hairy zombie, causing it to turn into a dry corpse, unable to cause any more trouble. While this sounds easy, driving several jujube pits into the spinal column of a hairy zombie is no simple task
As the zombie lunged forward, Gu Zheng did not engage in a direct confrontation. His master had once said: a墨者 who only knows how to fight head-on is not a good墨者. He executed the Seven Star Step, swiftly evading the zombie's attack and appearing behind it. With a quick motion, a jujube pit engraved with intricate symbols appeared in his left hand
What a powerful corpse poison! Sun Yan let out a breath of cold air, his expression grave. His brows furrowed tightly as he reached into his backpack and quickly pulled out a brush and a bottle of ink made from ground cinnabar. He immediately dipped the brush into the thick cinnabar and placed a large red dot on Chen Fu's forehead. However, the red dot of cinnabar soon turned pitch black. At this moment, Sun Yan's expression finally became unpleasant. This was not the first time he had dealt with such matters; it was rare for him to encounter a corpse poison that he could not subdue even after using three or four different methods. This situation was particularly troublesome.
In a state of unconsciousness, Chen Fu let out a mournful cry as he convulsed uncontrollably, nearly toppling several teammates who were holding him down. Amidst the cries of anguish, Sun Yan's expression remained calm, showing no sign of compassion whatsoever
Many newcomers do not understand the organization's intention in placing them in this new department. For some time, they have been unaware of the purpose of this department, but after tonight, they may begin to understand.
Hold his hands and feet! Sun Yan said to several new team members beside him, who, like Chen Fu, were part of this team of graphic novels. These newcomers felt a twinge of fear as they watched the speed at which Gu Zheng was confronting that hairy zombie, sending chills down their spines. They were all outstanding individuals from various military districts, each possessing exceptional martial skills and harboring a sense of invincibility. However, witnessing a young guide brought in from the mountains outperforming them shattered their pride. They thought to themselves that if they were to confront that terrifying monster, their outcome would not be much better than that of Chen Fu, who was lying on the ground.
"Seeking death!" Gu Zheng was struck by Mao Jiang, causing blood to surge forth, and the broken skin showed signs of corpse poison, already beginning to swell slightly. He immediately realized that he could not afford to delay. His gaze became incredibly sharp as he stood up, the ancient blade held horizontally across his chest
"Quickly, please bring Professor Lin here!" Sun Yan said, turning to a nearby team member. There was such a commotion in the team; the nominal highest leader of the archaeological team, Professor Lin Hai, had not shown his face at all. It was unclear whether he was still asleep or if he thought that Sun Yan and the others could handle the situation outside well enough, thus he was too lazy to come out.
After administering the liquid, a stream of black liquid flowed from Chen Fu's ears. Witnessing this scene, Sun Yan felt a sense of relief and said to the team member beside him, "Strip him of all his clothes." Without any hesitation, everyone quickly stripped Chen Fu completely bare.
As Sun Yan spoke, his hands did not stop, and he took out a chalk line from his backpack. If Gu Zheng were to witness this scene, he would surely be speechless. This is someone who claims to be rational yet openly declares his rejection of the absurdity of Team Leader Sun. The items he carries to restrain the malevolent are the same as those Gu Zheng possesses; he has what Gu Zheng has, and he also has what Gu Zheng does not have. What does it mean to be inconsistent? This is what it means to be inconsistent.
Sun Yan took out a handful of glutinous rice from his backpack and stuffed it into Chen Fu's mouth in one swift motion. As the glutinous rice entered, a sizzling sound immediately emanated from Chen Fu's mouth. Sun Yan signaled for everyone to help Chen Fu sit up, pried open his mouth, and gave a firm slap to Chen Fu's back. The young man promptly expelled all the glutinous rice that Sun Yan had just stuffed into his mouth. However, when the rice fell to the ground, it was a pitch-black color, as if it had been soaked in ink for a long time, and it carried a foul odor.
